Creative Together is a new strand from Creative Scene to connect-up artists and facilitators who work with participants and communities. Whatever your artform, from poetry, paint or photography to sculpture, scripts or singing, this is a space to meet other artists and discuss ideas, techniques and new skills around workshop delivery. It’s a space to get peer support, listen to examples of co-creation and contribute your thoughts towards a growing network of practitioners.

This sessions guest speaker is Ysabelle (Yssi) Wombwell – a musician, music producer and creative project producer.

FREE curry will be served for anyone who attends. Vegetarian and Halal meat options available – please specify when booking. Food and drink served from 4.30pm. Talk starts at 5pm.

To confirm your place email henry@creativescene.org.uk

Accessibility: The event is on the ground floor of Artists Attic and is wheelchair accessible.

About Ysabelle Wombwell

As a neurodivergent, racialised woman and a child of Deaf parents Ysabelle has experienced and witnessed systemic and interpersonal discrimination of individuals since childhood. As a young carer Ysabelle developed a strong passion for activism and dismantling barriers that hinder or restrict people’s rights and opportunities. This is a lifelong passion that is reflected in her music & lyrics and in her career.

Having a lifelong feeling of being out of place and often being labelled as “lazy or awkward” has led to a career in creative producing and music within youth and community work. Engaging with people who have felt ostracised, misunderstood and restricted because of their identity has evolved naturally and so has her passion for activism and inability to stay quiet in the face of injustice.

In 2021, Ysabelle received an Arts Council England (ACE) Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) grant resulting in 2 new live videos, the writing and demoing of new songs, more versatility in my music production and a larger network. Ysabelle also engineer and mentor, and coordinate a Youth Music studio project for young women at Young Thugs, York.

Ysabelle was 1 of 3 organisers for Keychange supported festival 53 Degrees North (SLAVES, The Horrors, Dream Wife). Ysabelle is a founding member of Make Noise (Women in music) having worked with Nadine Shah and Eliza Shaddad.
