Communications and Audience Development Manager

Communications and Audience Development Manager

£27,156-29,982 per annum, subject to experience.

Fixed term contract, full time, to December 2020 with strong possibility for extending.

Closing: 26th March 2019, 12 noon

More than Marketing!

We are looking for an experienced communications and audience development professional who wants to use their skills to make a difference to how people experience and get involved in the arts. You will take responsibility for leading marketing, recruitment and communications around our wide creative programme of commissions, opportunities, events and activities.

Here at Creative Scene we have over 4 years experience of co-commissioning, co-producing and co- programming amazing arts and cultural activities with the people that live in this urban area of West Yorkshire. As a result, over 200,000 people who don’t usually engage in the arts have experienced work from the best artists and companies in the region and as well as national companies such as Periplum, Complicite, Opera North, Walk the Plank, IOU and Idle Women. We’ve commissioned and programmed work as part of local festivals, through a touring circuit of pubs and community centres, in market halls, train stations, town squares, parks and bingo halls. We also run a creative space, Brigantia, where members can meet, network and learn together.

We want to make sure that people who don’t usually take part in arts and cultural activities and opportunities, get to hear about all the brilliant things happening in the Creative Scene in West Yorkshire; and to share our successes and our learning wide and far- so that we can continue to contribute to building the cultural ecology in the region, and make sure these experiences continue- for the people, the places and the artists involved.

A team worker who knows how to collaborate, challenge and influence, you will have a minimum of 3 years experience working in the arts or cultural sector; enjoy the buzz that comes from working with a wide range of people and bringing their contributions into play to deliver a busy programme; and some strong ideas about how to keep a wide cross-section of people interested and involved in growing the Creative Scene of the future.

If you have a track record of leading, developing and implementing marketing and audience development strategies, we want to hear from you.

This is a fixed term post until December 2020, and with strong potential to extend. You will be part of a team that aims to meet our ambition to further develop the programme and organisation and to secure new funding, until 2024 and beyond.
