Batley Festival Commission Call Out: The Top Table
THE TOP TABLE – A Creative Feast for Batley Outdoor Arts Festival, West Yorkshire.
This is a new and significant opportunity for an artist, collective of artists or arts organisation to create something truly special for this year’s Batley Outdoor Arts Festival, a day-long festival that brings people of all ages together in the historic heart of this market town.
Apply by: 24 June 2019 at 12noon
Interviews: 4 July 2019 (also 5 July if necessary)
Contracting, Research & Development: Mid July to Mid August
Engagement & Participation: 12 August 2019
Production week: w/c 23 September
Event: Saturday 28 September 2019
Subject to confirmation of funding from applications already submitted, Creative Scene and Batley Festival want to commission an arts organisation, or collective of artists to create a unique centre-piece for this year’s Outdoor Arts Festival which takes place throughout one day, and attracts audiences of 3,000+. Previous Festivals have brought evening spectacles, including Walk the Plank’s Spellbound to the market place, and a new film and aerial commission telling the story of the town from Periplum. This year, we want to commission something unique that will be in-situ throughout the day, a high-profile interactive installation/live art event, creating the focal point for the Festival.
Top Table will be an artist created and curated feast, offering ‘diners’ the chance to partake in a shared experience, including mouthwatering portions of food, music, and entertainment. It will be set up to run throughout the day and provide an opportunity for people to come together with their neighbours and families, make new friends and have unique and unforgettable experiences, as they are involved in a whole host of creative and cultural activities around the table.
For more information including instructions on expressing interest, please click here, where you will be able to download the commission pack.
