We’re Creative Scene – have we met before?

Spring has sprung in our patch of West Yorkshire, so we thought it was a good time to give our website a good old spring clean.

11th March 2020

This is our shiny new Journal, with updates on how we’re making art a part of everyday life. As well as news updates, you’ll be able to get behind the scenes with guest blogs from the people we’re working with, interviews with artists and community leaders and thoughts from the people who are getting creative with us.

If you haven’t met us before, we’re Creative Scene. We don’t run a theatre or a gallery, instead, you’ll find us exploring new ways of presenting the arts in places where people live, work and play. Can we screen short films in an abandoned mill? Let’s try. Can we get the chef from a local restaurant to be part of a play about curry houses? We’ll give it a go. Could the local rugby club be a good venue for a family show? Why not! Check out some of our past projects and gallery to get a flavour of what we’ve been up to.

We are working hard with the people here to put this part of West Yorkshire on the map as a place where the people create and commission fantastic and accessible arts and cultural events and activities. See what we’ve learned in the past five years in our case study section and check out opportunities coming up for artists and creative too.

And if you want to put a face to the Creative Scene team, head over to Meet the Team – and remember to say hello if you see us at one of our events, exhibitions or pottering around in Brigantia, our artistic hub on the 5th floor of Empire House in Dewsbury!

So have a good old nosy around our new website and let us know what you think over on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube.
