It’s time for Flower Power to hit the market cobbles. Why not take a trip down Memory Lane and into the Swinging Sixties and join Creative Scene at Batley Vintage Day 2017.
We invite you to dust off your crimplene dress, zany sunglasses and bell-bottomed jeans to pose for a Polaroid snap in our cool VW photobooth campervan and 1960s area before you hit the nearby vintage stalls in the Market Place.
Come and say hello and we’ll put you into a 60s frame of mind with our dressing up box of props and costumes – or wear your own. You can even bring your granny along for the photos if you like.
You can also call in at the FlowerPower! van and meet the artists who will help you make an array of different ‘flower’ headdresses and garlands.
Inspired by the classic entertainment at Batley Variety Club, Sneaky Experience will present Variety Reborn at Batley Festival – a one-day revival of a classic Yorkshire Variety Club in the 60s.
Meet 60s characters including club owner Tony, who will treat the audience to different ‘turns.’ See him become the ‘Devil in Disguise’ with various wigs performing hits like ‘Suspicious Minds’, ‘She Loves You’ and you really don’t want to miss his version of Son of a Preacher Man. Take part in his Pop Quiz and enjoy the 60s vibe throughout the day.
Elsewhere as part of Batley Vintage Day, the Roaring Forties and Fabulous Fifties will also be celebrated, along with a display of vintage vehicles.
The event, now in it’s fourth year, will welcome a fly past display from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight by three vintage aircraft. Crowds will see the Spitfire, the Hurricane and the Lancaster in action.
