POSTPONED FROM ORIGINAL DATE OF THURSDAY 4 MAY

We invite people who would like to find out more about how we are growing the Creative Scene in our part of West Yorkshire to come together for a relaxed and informal evening of stimulating conversations. Hear from guest speakers, take part in creative activities, enjoy music or spoken word entertainment with home-made food from the West Riding kitchen.

The Social is for people who want to find out more about how they can help make a positive change for people and places,  share great creative ideas and arts approaches that work, and pick up some top tips too.

This Social will discuss – ‘What makes a place?’ and Place Making – a people centred approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. We’ll find out how to look at the characteristics of a place, and talk to the people who live and work there. It looks at an asset based approach – that is, the local community’s resources, inspiration and potential to create public spaces that promote people’s health, happinesss and well being.

Join Sophie Skellern, project manager and artist for Blackburn is Open, a bold initiative connecting local artists and makers with the town centre.

*We regret that the Old Turk is not wheelchair accessible and are working to try to find a fully accessible venue for our next series of events. In the meantime, if you have any access requirements, please let us know in advance by emailing lisa@creativescene.org.uk
