THE PEACE POEM TOUR

On Wednesday 14th November 2018 join us in Dewsbury Town Centre as we commemorate the first days of peace following WW1.

Part of Paper Peace, a year-long national arts and heritage programme, we are pleased that Dewsbury is one of 5 towns/cities where a 14ft high illuminated Peace Poem created with leading artist and poet Robert Montgomery will stop as it travels throughout the UK.

Come and visit the Peace Poem, share your memories and get creative with activities created by three local trainee producers.

Order of the day

Head down to Dewsbury Market between 9.30 and 14.30 and enjoy a craft activity of making birds of peace, and sharing stories of kindness. The Peace Poem will remain here until 11.30.

Follow the Peace Poem to Dewsbury Town Hall Apron at 11.30, and help to build a commemorative poppy with stories of peace and kindness. The Peace Poem will remain here until 16.00.

And at 17.30 prolific poet Afshan D’Souza will be hosting a special peace themed It’s A Word Thing at Cocoa Lounge. Do you have something to say about peace? Or are you just a fan of the spoken word? All writers, poets, spoken-word artists and lovers of language of any level are invited for this open-mic evening of Peace, Poetry and Pizza.
