This special event is organised as part of Heritage Open Days 2026,
England’s largest community led festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations. Every year in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.
Simon Reed is a Dewsbury born film maker with a passion for filming and history who has been behind the camera for 28 years.

Sat 19th 10.30 am -12 PM Memory Lane Dewsbury
First released in 2014, follow Simon as he re-visits scenes from a photographic archive of old Dewsbury, walking in the footsteps of the original photographer and exploring the stories of key buildings and locations.
Sat 19th 1.00 PM – 2.30 PM Memory Lane 2- Thornhill Lees & Thornhill
A journey through the years, remembering those who lived and worked in the area – and some remarkable companies which are famous around the world.
Copies of DVD’s of both films will be available to buy on the day. (cash only)
