Run by local independent arts producer Anna Turnzinsky, this session will give you useful advice and information on how to promote your artistic practice or your organisation.
Anna is an independent arts producer currently living and working in Leeds. Anna facilitates a number of artists’ work including Ellie Harrison of The Grief Series, Riptide Theatre and dancer, choreographer Hannah Buckley. She also works for Compass Live Art Festival, Leeds International Festival, Leeds Playhouse, Hatch and Unlimited Theatre.
Her expertise lies in site-specific, interactive and unconventional performance work. Anna’s practice is rooted in care, for both the artists she works for and the audiences that encounter the work she produces. Anna regularly lectures at Leeds Beckett and the University of Leeds on career progression in the cultural sector and creative events delivery.
Anna has a close working relationship with a consortium of female artists and producers based in the North. She has recently been invited to join East Street Art’s Professional Development initiative The Holy Art Grail and mentors two emerging producers in Leeds.
We know how tough it can be being a freelancer or small business owner. Our Freelance Thursdays aren’t only to meet other people in the area who work alone but to learn the essentials: how to do your tax return and register as self-employed, how to build your personal brand and how to master the basics of social media. We can promise you a break away from your shared office, back room or studio with the chance to meet other artists, freelancers, digital start-ups and community organisers in the area – we’ll put the kettle on and get the biscuits out.

Brigantia is located on the 5th floor of Empire House on Wakefield Old Road in Dewsbury Town Centre. Empire House is the building above the Post Office, just next to the town hall. Someone will be located at the entrance of the building to send you in the right direction on the day.
This event is free to members of Brigantia. If you’re not a member, but would like to come along then you can either pay for membership on the door or sign up here. Membership costs £3 a year and you’ll have access to classes, workshops and events at Brigantia.
