BANK is a new initiative from Creative Scene, bringing together the arts community in and around North Kirklees.

A place for creative practitioners of all kinds who are interested in creative people and places, BANK will include a regular monthly meet up (online, if we can’t meet in real life) with artists’ talks, professional development, exhibitions and residency opportunities.

Highlighted Artist

To launch BANK, we’ve been talking to artists based in our area – about their work and how they got started, what they have been up to during Lockdown, and taking a tour around their studios.  

Our first spotlight was on Pauline Leitch, a visual artist and storyteller. Pauline’s journey to becoming an artist has been full of twists and turns She is also the new Co-Event Director at Dewsbury parkrun. You can read our interview with Pauline here.

Our second spotlight was on acclaimed artist Stephen Turner. Stephen was brought up in Dewsbury and has recently returned to his old haunts to set up his studio in Crow Nest Park. You can read out interview with Stephen here.

Filmmaker and photographer Nathan Towers is one of the bright young talents of North Kirklees and was our third Highlighted Artist, you can read his interview here.
