Creative Scene are working with students from Batley School of Art to showcase our area’s rich textile heritage through a new international collaboration.
Over the coming months students will work with young people from Ksar Hellal, Tunisia to share and capture their towns rich textile heritage and build an exhibition that highlights the role textiles has played in shaping communities across the world.
Students will have the opportunity to learn how Tunisian partners Apollon Association are using arts as a way to build and develop their society and will develop a new textile trail and exhibit their work in both countries.
There will also be an opportunity for the public to input their stories of the industry into the exhibition as participants gather memories from local people in a special session on Dewsbury Market on Wednesday 17th February.
The exhibition will premiere in Ksar Hellal in April before being showcased here in Kirklees in June.
