NORTH KIRKLEES YOUNG PEOPLE GO WILD IN THE JUNGLE BOOK

The Jungle Book

Next week the wilds of India come to Huddersfield with the Lawrence Batley Theatre’s Young Company production of The Jungle Book – and young people from North Kirklees are taking centre stage.

After Creative Scene hosted an open workshop audition at The Greenwood Centre in Dewsbury, 13 young people were cast in the professionally-produced show, whilst off-stage a Batley School of Art student has been working on the challenge of costuming a cast of wild animals.

The play, based on Rudyard Kipling’s much-loved stories, follows foundling Mowgli, who leaves the pack of wolves that raised him in a quest for his true identity. Along the way he finds new friends and faces untold dangers in a coming-of-age journey of discovery.

To show our support and appreciation for the contribution of North Kirklees young people, we have a special ticket and travel offer for people from postcodes WF12-17, BD11 and BD19. For just £5 we’ll provide return coach travel from Dewsbury train station to the LBT in Huddersfield and a ticket to the production’s final performance on Saturday 15 August at 7.30pm.

Places are limited so book yours now by emailing madeleine@creativescene.org.uk or call 01924 437966 and speak to Maddy or Lisa.
