The Flying Machine

by Handmade Theatre

Welcome aboard the flying machine and get ready for a wondrous adventure!

Become a member of the crew as we set off on a journey through the skies exploring new worlds and characters, engaging with sensory props, stories and songs from across the globe. The sky’s the limit.

This interactive performance invites our audience to become the crew, flapping the wings, working the controls and steering the captain’s wheel.

Led by the musical Captain and dramatic First Mate – explore fascinating new destinations both real and imaginary.

Performed through an exciting mix of drama and song, this show brings to life your imagination and sense of adventure in a fantastic multi sensory experience.

Why not bring a picnic and join us from 1pm – there’ll be activities to keep everyone entertained before the show starts.

A fun-filled adventure come rain or shine: if the weather is fine this show will be outside or inside if it’s poor – bags of fun either way at every venue.

a few things to know about the flying machine…

The Weather

We all know how unpredictable the great British weather can be so we want to make sure you and your little ‘uns can have bags of fun whatever the weather.  So, if it is a fine day The Flying Machine will be outside or if it’s poor we will move indoors.

If it is outdoors, you’ll be outside for around 50 minutes, so please bring a jumper or jacket in case it gets cooler whilst you are sitting.

Keep an eye on our facebook (www.facebook.com/creativescene.uk) and Twitter (@creativesceneWY) and we’ll announce on the day if we will be inside or outside – the venue will be the same either way.

Come along from 1pm

The show will start at 2pm, but you are welcome to come along anytime from 1pm and bring a packed lunch – whether we are indoors or outside there’ll be an area available. You may want to bring a picnic blanket or rugs to sit on outside to enjoy your picnic.  You will not need to bring anything to sit on for the show (see below).

Seating

There will be special seating for everyone as part of the show to make sure that everyone is involved and can see all the action – you do not need to bring your own chairs, rugs etc. If you do bring your own you will not be able to use them.

Toilets and facilities

The toilets in the venue will be available for everyone to use even if the show is outside.

Accessibility and Thornhill Sports & Community Centre

All the outdoor spaces are either on fairly flat ground or grass.  If you have any access requirements please contact us on 01924 437966 and we will do our best to advise.

Please note the lift at Thornhill Sports & Community Centre is currently broken and the toilets are upstairs, so this venue is not suitable for wheelchair users or people who are not able to use stairs.
