Coming Up in 2016…

After a  fun filled autumn programme in 2015 with touring theatre, hands-on arts activities and some spectacular events – you can revisit Batley Festival and HeckmondFRIGHT by watching some short films from the event.

Plans for this year’s programme are well under way now and and there’s lots coming up in the Creative Scene in 2016.

You’ll be able to  take part in arty activities in your local caff –  Creative Scene’s Culture Cafes are coming soon, with lots of tea and cake!

We’re also continuing  our partnership with TransPennine  with special screenings of  two new film’s created with passengers and staff on the TransPennine route and Opera comes to Batley in an exciting partnership with Opera North. Both events take place in March and we’ll be annoucing further details soon.

In the meantime, at the end of January, we hope you will be able to get along to see something in this years Holocaust Memorial Day programme – we’ve collaborated with Dewsbury Collegians  to create a very special performance  piece for the event at the University of Huddersfield.

Over February half term we have more family- friendly theatre coming to a community venue near you – Horse and Bamboo are one of the country’s leading puppet-theatre companies and their beautiful work will delight and enchant young and not so young alike. You can book your tickets now.

There’s lots of volunteers helping make and shape the Creative Scene. Our Making A Scene blog  tells the stories of what some of our SceneMakers are getting up to so grab a cuppa and have a read. It’s also been nominated for the UK blog awards, so we will let you know how it gets on in a few weeks time.

And as it’s Awards season – we will honouring the big contribution that local volunteers make to our programme by supporting The Mayor of Kirklees’s Volunteer Appreciation event with a special ‘We Love The Arts’ award. Winners will be announced at the ceremony.
