APPLY: Women invited to stay overnight on Selina Cooper

idle women

idle women are now looking for expressions of interest from women to stay on board the Selina Cooper in Mirfield this summer. This is an opportunity to enjoy the peaceful creative space of the boat and to work with idle women to generate a creative offer for other women in exchange for time aboard.

Women can apply to stay for as little as 2 nights or up to two weeks between 12 June – 13 August.

Time in residence can be used for any creative means, a place to read and think, to draw, to make, to cook, to sew or to plot. In exchange for this private creative time we ask you to make an offer for other women, to facilitate a workshop, perform a reading, share a home made cheese & onion pie or teach a skill.

idle women caretakers will be your neighbours on the towpath and will offer support with boat living as well as with planning and delivering your offer.

All submissions to idle women must be received by Thursday 13 April 2017.

Places will be confirmed by Monday 15 May 2017

Who can apply?

The invitation is open to all women (over 21) in the UK and Ireland but will prioritise women who have already had some involvement with idle women – especially those working in the womens sector, BME women and those living in the following areas – Blackburn & Darwen, Pendle, Hyndburn, Burnley, St Helen’s and North Kirklees.

You will be expected to cover and arrange your own transport and living expenses for your time aboard but there will be no financial costs payable to or from idle women – the invitation is based on an exchange for your skills and time. idle women has funds to cover the costs of workshop materials which will negotiated between idle women and yourself.
